Structural Engineer Opportunity

Calibre Search is working with a leading UK-based engineering consultancy to find a skilled Structural Engineer to join their Bristol office.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineer to work on a variety of projects across the commercial, retail, residential, industrial, and scientific sectors. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for carrying out structural engineering assessments and inspections, working as a Technical Lead on projects, and preparing high-quality technical reports.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct structural engineering assessments and inspections of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  2. Work as a Technical Lead on projects, providing technical guidance and support to the team.
  3. Prepare detailed technical reports, including dilapidation reports and due diligence structural surveys.
  4. Undertake analysis and design using hand calculations and software packages, including CSC Fastrak, Tekla, Building Designer, TEDDS, CSI Safe, Robot, and Bluebeam Revu.
  5. Verify software outputs through hand calculations.
  6. Ensure the quality and consistency of technical output, including drawings, reports, and calculations.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of three years' experience in the UK construction industry, with a strong understanding of common forms of construction, materials, and building types. You will also need excellent report writing, communication, and numerical skills. Experience working on listed and historical buildings, as well as large projects, offices, hotels, and housing developments, would be advantageous.
