Contact Lens Buyer

About the Role
Boots Opticians is seeking a skilled Buyer to join our Commercial team as maternity cover for a Buyer of contact lenses. In this role, you will work within the Contact Lens Category team to support and devise trading plans for the category, including ongoing development of our customer proposition, support store implementation plans, and finding additional margin opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a compelling strategy to retain our market-leading position
- Range Management: Analyze range performance, recommend improvements, and seek solutions
- Be a category expert: Conduct ongoing research and analysis of suppliers, customers, competitors, and internal performance to make informed decisions
- Price and Promotion Management: Understand category pricing strategy, competitor activity, product pricing dynamics, and hierarchies within the business
- Manage day-to-day relationships with suppliers and assist the Buying Manager in negotiating price deals
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills to build effective working relationships internally and externally
- Strong analytical skills to use data to make recommendations and commercial decisions
- Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Contact lens product knowledge is essential to align product specifications with customer needs
- Commercially astute with a focus on continuous improvement
