Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop expertise in collections-based science, demonstrating relevant scientific scholarship in areas such as taxonomy, systematics, and wider entomology.
  • Oversee the collections of various small orders, including Archaeognatha, Collembola, Diplura, Mecoptera, Neuroptera, Phthiraptera, Protura, Psocoptera, Raphidioptera, Thysanoptera, Zoraptera, and Zygentoma, together comprising over half a million specimens.
  • Conduct and support collections-based research.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including researchers, visitors, students, and volunteers.

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree, such as an MSc or PhD, or equivalent experience.
  • A keen interest in natural history.
  • Relevant taxonomic knowledge and experience in the use and care of natural history collections.
  • Expertise in one or more of the listed taxa, encompassing their identification, systematics, and taxonomy.
  • Proficiency in databasing for collections management.
