Safety and Security Coordinator

Position Overview
We are pleased to announce an opportunity to become a part of the Security Team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role encompasses responsibilities across various hospital sites, ensuring a secure environment for all.
As a member of our specialized team, your primary duties will include:
- Upholding order and mitigating public disturbances across all Trust locations.
- Safeguarding patients, staff, contractors, and visitors from incidents of violence, aggression, and abuse.
- Protecting Trust assets from loss, theft, and damage.
- Ensuring the safety of personal belongings belonging to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Overseeing traffic flow throughout the Trust premises.
- Conducting patrols of parking facilities.
- Issuing notices for unauthorized parking violations.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering a professional and effective Security / Traffic Officer service tailored to the needs of the Trust.
- Maintaining order and preventing disturbances on all Trust properties.
- Protecting individuals from acts of violence and aggression while prioritizing personal safety.
- Documenting security incidents accurately and completing necessary electronic forms and reports.
- Collaborating with law enforcement as needed, including providing statements and preserving evidence.
- Conducting preliminary investigations into property losses affecting the Trust, staff, and patients.
- Assisting in the secure transportation of cash and valuables.
- Responding promptly to security alarms and taking appropriate actions to ensure safety.
- Initiating police involvement in suspicious activities on Trust grounds.
- Supporting emergency response efforts in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintaining accurate records of lost and found items and managing a secure key register.
- Monitoring fire alarm systems and coordinating with emergency services as necessary.
- Completing all required training and staying updated on relevant security practices.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- SIA Frontline Manned Guarding License or NVQ Level 2 in Security
- Proven experience in the security sector
- Competence in restraint techniques
- Understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Physical fitness to perform extended patrols
- Ability to prioritize incidents based on risk assessment
Desirable
- SIA Public Space Surveillance License
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act 2007
- Experience with CCTV operations
- Good written communication skills
