Position Overview

Working in a prison setting presents unique challenges, yet it is also immensely fulfilling for healthcare professionals. If you are eager to enhance your skills and face new experiences daily, this role may be ideal for you.
Role Responsibilities
We are in search of a Podiatrist to collaborate with our dedicated teams, providing care for offenders. The position involves a commitment of 1 x 4-hour session weekly at one facility and 1 x 4-hour session monthly at another. This structure ensures a healthy work-life balance, as there are no on-call or weekend duties.
You will integrate into a progressive healthcare team, which includes GPs, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and mental health experts, all committed to delivering high-quality treatment. Additionally, you will be part of the broader MSK Health in Justice Team, which consists of physiotherapists and podiatrists serving numerous correctional facilities nationwide. You will receive guidance and mentorship from our Team Lead Podiatrist, supported by a robust appraisal system, in-service training, and funding for external clinical courses, ensuring a rich learning environment.
Main Duties
This role entails advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the offender healthcare framework, particularly those with complex or chronic conditions. You will be responsible for clinical diagnosis, treatment planning, and maintaining accurate records as an independent practitioner.
To excel in this position, you must be HCPC registered with experience in assessing and treating various conditions, including diabetic care, wound management, musculoskeletal issues, and nail surgery. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with a self-motivated approach.

The population within prisons is among the most vulnerable, and delivering healthcare in such environments can be demanding yet rewarding.
Qualifications
- HCPC registration with relevant post-registration experience in outpatient settings.
Disclosure Requirements
This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, necessitating a Disclosure submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any prior criminal convictions.
Professional Registration
