Aviation and Marine Claims Specialist

About Us: At Nexus Underwriting, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional claims management services. We are currently seeking a skilled Aviation and Marine Claims Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Claims Manager, Head of Claims, and the broader Claims Team to ensure a premier claims service for our underwriting partners, policyholders, and brokers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently manage and process Aviation claims (hull and liability) from initial notification through to settlement and closure. This involves accurately evaluating policy coverage and legal liability, alongside effective diary management and precise data entry.
- Support the handling of Marine claims, including Yacht, Marine Trade, and Cargo, under the mentorship of a Senior Claims Adjuster.
- Report significant losses and refer claims to our capacity providers when they exceed our claims handling authority.
- Oversee the daily management of emails for the Aviation and Marine Claims inboxes.
- Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of Bordereaux.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable claims standards and adherence to contractual delegated authorities and service level agreements.
- Collaborate internally with underwriters, claims adjusters, processing technicians, and finance/operations staff to facilitate claims-related activities and ensure timely payments.
- Identify and escalate any claims-related issues as necessary.
- Uphold the Nexus Brand and adhere to our code of conduct in all professional settings.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the aviation insurance sector, particularly with Lead/CAP accounts.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with brokers.
- Prior experience in Marine claims is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Comprehensive understanding of the insurance claims landscape and processes.
- Proficient in IT, with familiarity in ECF and Microsoft Office applications.
