Position Overview

We are in search of a seasoned professional with extensive experience in safeguarding children to assist in elevating our services from a good to an outstanding level. Your leadership will be pivotal in shaping our approach as we implement our strategic objectives.

As a Named Professional for Safeguarding, you will provide exemplary guidance and oversight across our services, ensuring the protection of children, young individuals, and vulnerable adults.

The successful candidate will collaborate across multiple teams, contributing to the safeguarding initiatives and working closely with other safeguarding professionals and operational staff.

Your role will involve providing insights into our safeguarding advisory services, facilitating training programs, and aiding in policy formulation, all while advancing our safeguarding work plan.

This position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the safeguarding advisory services, training provisions, and policy development, while actively participating in the safeguarding work plan.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations regarding the safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Lead the formulation of policies and procedures, translating national guidelines into local practices.
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate safeguarding activities to enhance the welfare of children, young people, and adults.
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to all staff, particularly within the safeguarding framework, promoting safe practices.
  • Support the ongoing improvement agenda within the safeguarding domain.

This role will require collaboration across organizations and partnerships at both strategic and operational levels, working closely with various agencies to address safeguarding issues.

Probationary Period

This position is subject to a probationary period, with exceptions for internal applicants under specific conditions.

High Cost Area Supplement

This role includes a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the base salary.

  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding practices related to children and families.
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with safeguarding regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate safeguarding activities effectively.
  • Proven experience in conducting complex investigations and analyses.

  • Demonstrated experience in both adult and child safeguarding.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.

  • Current registration with relevant professional bodies.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding principles through training and experience.
