Midlothian Council is seeking applications for the position of 'Lead Consultant Engineer - Flood Management' within the Road Services division.

This role will focus on the development, consultation, and execution of flood risk management strategies for both proactive and reactive scenarios. As a seasoned roads engineer with extensive expertise in flood risk management, you will collaborate with a diverse team on a range of road projects, including construction, road safety initiatives, and planning approvals, often working in partnership with both internal and external stakeholders.

Current projects include urban route enhancements, new roadway construction, and active travel initiatives to support educational facilities, all of which necessitate comprehensive flood risk management oversight.

Experience in statutory consultation within the planning framework is beneficial, as is familiarity with funding applications.

Candidates must possess a Degree in Civil Engineering and hold Full Chartered Civil Engineer status, along with prior experience in highway design, asset management, and road maintenance. Proficiency in the design of road safety and traffic management schemes is also required.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar software, along with knowledge of relevant quality assurance systems, is essential.

Experience in managing staff is considered advantageous.

A valid driver's license is preferred.
