About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Polymer Engineering Technician to join our team at Edinburgh Napier University. As a key member of our School of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment, you will play a vital role in supporting our research projects and providing expert knowledge in our Polymer Engineering, Materials and Nano Materials laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support a wide range of research projects and gain valuable experience in our laboratories.
  • Monitor, identify and resolve Health and Safety issues in the laboratory.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including lab and industrial scale machinery.
  • Conduct mechanical testing and materials analysis in our materials testing laboratory.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and support to students and staff, including delivering excellent teaching sessions and supporting research students in their laboratory projects.
Requirements
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge with experience of relevant technical testing equipment relating to polymer materials.
  • Extensive practical experience of working with relevant equipment.
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety procedures and COSHH procedures.
  • Ability to adapt and expand knowledge as required to facilitate School requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to provide customer-focused solutions to both students and staff.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload and use initiative.
