About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Receptionist to join our team at Winterton Medical Practice. As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and will be responsible for providing a high-quality and responsive reception service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming and efficient reception service to patients, ensuring that the reception area is tidy and well-organized.
- Make appointments and book patients in for appointments in accordance with the practice appointment system.
- Answer telephones promptly and ensure that all incoming lines are covered at all times.
- Comply with the practice procedure for the registration of new patients, temporary patients, private patients, and those seen as emergency or immediately necessary.
- Advise patients of any actions or advice requested by clinicians.
- Signpost patients appropriately to the most suitable services.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties, including scanning, photocopying, and filing.
- Tidy the reception area and deal with home visit requests.
- Accurately maintain patients' basic demographic data on the computer.
- Take, record, and action telephone messages, promptly, accurately, and appropriately, and deal with any follow-up actions.
- Understand and adhere to all practice procedures and protocols relevant to your role.
- Change doctors' names in the waiting room and on doors if necessary.
- Check the Duty Dr and/or GP Registrar are aware of all planned and approved visits.
- Print FP10 and labels as required for repeat medication requests.
- Cover for holidays and sickness as and when it is needed.
- Work with the dispensary, admin, and secretarial colleagues to ensure that enquiries and requests are handled as efficiently as possible.
Personal Qualities
- Cope with working in a hectic environment.
- Be helpful and friendly towards patients.
- Have the ability to work as part of a team.
- Be flexible and available to work every day if necessary.
Person Specification
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
- Experience of working in a reception/admin environment.
- Desirable: Experience of working in a GP practice and as a Doctors Receptionist.
