About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Surgical and Amputee Rehabilitation team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services to patients with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat patients with surgical and amputee-related conditions, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to promote optimal recovery and independence.
  • Supervise and mentor non-qualified staff and students, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality care delivery.
  • Participate in in-service training and contribute to service improvement projects, driving excellence in occupational therapy practice.
  • Lead the physiotherapy team on the surgical wards and amputee rehabilitation service, ensuring seamless care coordination and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Be actively involved in the respiratory physiotherapy on-call service, providing 24/7 support to patients across the Lister Hospital site.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or diploma in occupational therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Relevant NHS/Social Services postgraduate experience covering several rotations.
  • Identification of own development needs.
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary team working and integrated working.
  • Evidence of clinical practice influenced by evidence-based practice.
  • Experience of planning, delivery, and evaluation of the occupational therapy process.
  • Evidence of clinical reasoning and prioritization.
  • Evaluation and implementation of appropriate standardized assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to clinical areas.
  • Knowledge of specific condition management and treatment requirements relating to orthopaedic, surgical, medical, and neurological conditions.
  • Implementation and adherence to Royal College of Occupational Therapy Standards.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain best practice in all aspects of health and safety.
