Senior Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Occupational Therapist to join our surgical and respiratory team at East and North Herts NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing outstanding care and service to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and treat patients within the wards at our hospital, utilizing your expertise in occupational therapy to enhance their quality of life.
- Supervise and mentor non-qualified staff and students, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet the highest standards of care.
- Participate in in-service training and contribute to service improvement projects, driving innovation and excellence in our department.
- Lead physiotherapy on the surgical wards and for the amputee rehabilitation service, leveraging your leadership skills to optimize patient outcomes.
- Be actively involved in the respiratory physiotherapy on-call service, providing critical support to our patients and staff.
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy, with a strong foundation in clinical practice and leadership.
- HCPC registration, ensuring you meet the highest standards of professional competence.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, demonstrating your commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest best practices.
- Practice Placement Educator, with experience in mentoring and educating students.
- Accredited Wheelchair Assessor, with expertise in assessing and recommending wheelchair solutions.
- Relevant NHS/Social Services Post Graduate experience, covering several rotations and demonstrating your adaptability and flexibility.
- Identification of own development needs, showcasing your self-awareness and commitment to growth.
- Evidence of Multi-Disciplinary Team working and integrated working, highlighting your ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Evidence of clinical practice influenced by evidence-based practice, demonstrating your commitment to delivering high-quality care.
- Experience of planning, delivery, and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy process, showcasing your project management skills.
- Evidence of clinical reasoning and prioritisation, demonstrating your ability to make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Evaluation and implementation of appropriate standardised assessment tools, highlighting your expertise in assessment and evaluation.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to clinical area, ensuring you have a strong foundation in the underlying sciences.
- Knowledge of specific Condition Management and treatment requires relating to Orthopaedic, Surgical, Medical, and Neurological conditions, demonstrating your expertise in managing complex patient needs.
- Implementation and adherence to Royal College of Occupational Therapy Standards, showcasing your commitment to delivering care that meets the highest standards.
- Ability to monitor and maintain best practice in all aspects of Health & Safety, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
- Ability to influence, guide, teach, motivate, and lead others, demonstrating your leadership and management skills.
- Experience of supervising qualified and unqualified staff, showcasing your ability to manage and develop teams.
- Research and Audit skills to evaluate and influence practice, highlighting your commitment to evidence-based care.
- Ability to carry out Service Development & Improvement, demonstrating your ability to drive change and innovation.
- Reference and implement NSF/NICE and other relevant guidelines/Standards, ensuring you stay up-to-date with the latest best practices.
