About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Buyer to join our Commercial team at WHSmith. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the commercial performance of our Toys and Games category across all our formats.

As a Buyer, you will be the key decision maker with autonomy to deliver your category strategy. You will be responsible for delivering and tracking against key commercial KPIs, curating the optimum assortment for our customers, and generating a continuous pipeline of value-creating initiatives to deliver sales and profitability.

You will also be responsible for negotiating with and managing the supplier base, defining the pricing and promotional strategy for the category, and contributing to the annual budget building process.

What We Are Looking For
  • Previous buying/commercial experience
  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Great stakeholder management with the ability to communicate and influence effectively
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Negotiation knowledge and skills
  • Strong numeracy skills and ability to analyse data
  • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Proactive and resourceful
  • Great team player
