Overview:

Kroll Bond Rating Agency Europe Limited (KBRA UK) is in search of an Associate to enhance our expanding Funds Ratings division within the London office. The Funds Ratings team is responsible for assigning and overseeing credit ratings for various debt instruments linked to funds, closed-end funds, and other investment vehicles. Our diverse ratings portfolio includes funds that utilize a range of asset growth and income generation strategies, such as fixed income securities, private equity, private credit, real estate, and middle market lending. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience and a keen interest in fund investment and credit strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct credit research on a variety of funds, closed-end funds, and other investment vehicles.
  • Support the creation of rating and analytical tools, including cash flow and asset coverage models, to assess fund debt structures.
  • Assist in the quantitative and qualitative preparation and presentation of internal credit memoranda and publications.
  • Engage in diligence meetings with fund management teams to evaluate their investment expertise, risk management capabilities, and overall strategy execution.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated spreadsheets and databases.
  • Collaborate with KBRA specialists in various sectors, including project finance, corporate finance, financial institutions, and structured finance.
  • Contribute to research efforts for internal and publication purposes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Mathematics, or a related field that demonstrates strong analytical skills.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a credit analyst, particularly in fund lending, investing, or structured finance, is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Strong time management skills and resourcefulness in a rapidly growing organization.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Advanced Excel; experience with cash flow modeling is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with SQL and VBA for database querying is a significant advantage.
  • Progress towards CFA designation is a plus.
