Accrington, Lancashire, United Kingdom Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Full time
Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our Children and Young People's Psychological Services (CYPPS) team in East Lancashire. As a key member of our senior management team, you will provide operational, clinical, and professional leadership to our team of clinical psychologists and other professionals.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have delegated responsibility for discreet aspects of our specialist psychological therapy services, depending on their specialist skills and/or geography. You will contribute to service developments and leadership, providing clinical supervision to colleagues and offering a range of different interventions from secondary training.

You will also have opportunities to provide specialist clinical psychology assessment, formulation, and therapy for individual children, young people, and their parents/carers within the service, as well as working systemically with the broader system.

About the Role

This is an exciting part-time (30 hours) permanent opportunity for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic and supportive service. We are committed to CPD and supervision and encourage innovation and development, as well as contributing to local Clinical Psychology Training courses.

You will join an established service that includes Clinical Psychologists, Specialist Therapists, and Trainee and Assistant Psychologists. We are part of CYPPS and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) across LSCFT.

About Us

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services, including secondary mental health care across this area. We offer a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria, and Sefton area.

We encourage flexible working and believe that a positive work/life balance benefits NHS employees through improved health and wellbeing. We would consider working patterns such as term time, part-time, compressed hours, flexi-time, and career breaks.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent
  • Substantial experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist with children, young people, and their parents/carers
  • Experience of contributing a psychological perspective within the context of multidisciplinary and multiagency care for children, young people, and their parents/carers
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical, and/or clinically sensitive information
