We are seeking a dedicated consultant ophthalmologist with a specialized focus on Medical Retina and non-surgical Glaucoma to enhance our Ophthalmology department.
This newly established role presents a unique opportunity to advance both medical and non-surgical glaucoma services within one of the largest ophthalmic departments in the region, catering to a diverse population.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will primarily operate at designated hospital sites, engaging in a part-time role that encompasses 8 PAs, including on-call duties.
Collaboration with fellow medical professionals and management is essential to deliver high-quality healthcare and contribute to the strategic vision of the organization.
Adherence to the General Medical Council's guidelines, including the Duties of a Doctor, is expected at all times. The candidate will also take personal responsibility for risk management and participate actively in clinical governance.
Prompt and effective responses to patient care complaints are crucial, supporting the organization's commitment to timely resolutions.

Detailed Responsibilities
The consultant will ensure a high standard of care for all patients under their clinical responsibility, participating in clinical activities aimed at maintaining excellence in patient services.
Responsibilities include sharing subspecialty cover, supporting junior ophthalmologists, and contributing to the training of medical students and allied health professionals.
Active participation in clinical governance and departmental audits is required, along with annual appraisals leading to revalidation.
