Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead our Scotland sites. This is a pivotal role in promoting and cultivating a positive safety culture, ensuring adherence to SHE standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Serve as the expert on Health and Safety matters in Scotland, overseeing employer liability claims and acting as the primary contact for enforcement bodies and response services.
  2. Drive the continuous development and enhancement of safety and environmental management systems at the sites, implementing and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures to minimize accident rates and improve environmental performance.
  3. Develop and uphold the UK safety standards across the sites, maintaining regular communication with group functions.
  4. Conduct regular audits and inspections of the sites in collaboration with management and employee representatives.
  5. Ensure appropriate budgeting for health and safety requirements within the overall site budget.
Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Proven experience in a management or Head of SHE role within the food manufacturing industry, working closely with senior functional leaders.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, with a demonstrated history of implementing and maintaining compliance processes.
  • Expertise in best practices and industry standards, with the ability to leverage industry-wide best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Environmental and Sustainability practices, with the capability to adopt and implement them effectively.
  • Familiarity with the workings of local government departments and the ability to proactively build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • NEBOSH and Health and Safety qualifications.
  • Demonstrated agility in thinking and behavior.
  • Flexibility to attend SHE meetings across Scotland.
  • Experience in people management, including the development of individuals.
