About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Turntide Technologies. As a key member of our Mechanical Engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of our electrification systems, specifically rotating electrical machines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop clean-sheet mechanical designs for rotating electrical machines, including motors, pumps, and fans.
  • Conduct exploration, design development, prototyping, and testing of concepts to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Perform mechanical analysis of conceptual designs to identify potential issues and areas for improvement.
  • Build and test prototype hardware and test rigs as necessary to validate design performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver programs and bring industry-leading products from prototype to production.
  • Utilize best-in-class simulation software to optimize and analyze product behavior.
  • Develop 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings of components and assemblies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and other relevant design software.
  • Experience with hand calculations and analysis software, such as ANSYS Mechanical and MATLAB.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to work and ability to take ownership of tasks and projects.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of design analysis skills, such as Design for Manufacturing, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
  • Experience working directly with customers on development programs.
  • Experience in working with and developing suppliers.
  • Experience with ANSYS, including static structural analysis, thermal, and modal analyses.
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Experience with rotating machines and packaging of electronic components and assemblies in mechanical enclosures.
