Job Description

Job Summary:

The Sales Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting both internal and external customers in generating technically challenging proposals, with the ultimate goal of making sales and hitting sales targets. This position requires a perfect blend of commercial and technical acumen to create packages that generate additional business opportunities for oilandgas by offering a tailored technical and commercially superior solution to the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and deliver detailed technical/commercial packages to customers, evaluating customer requirements, accurately costing the scope of supply and involvement required by the company, evaluating risk, and ensuring accurate quotations are produced that meet customer requirements and adhere to the company's commercial policies.
  2. Support high-value external customer accounts, act as a point of contact to ensure excellent customer service is provided, manage current relationships, and develop new ones.
  3. Prioritize demand/workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  4. Review customer and industry-specified technical specifications to ascertain acceptance or otherwise for each allocated project or enquiry.
  5. Engage with customers to ensure the final product/package quoted meets their requirements.
  6. Engage with internal/external supply chain to ensure the most competitive price and correct quality product is available.
  7. Drive solutions and improvements in daily tasks.
  8. Act as a conduit of technical information between the sales team and internal departments when the handover of information is required.
  9. Carry out robust contract review, including holding meetings when necessary, to ensure that key stakeholders are aware of requirements to prevent HSE, OTIF, or quality being negatively impacted by lack of due diligence.
  10. Support the Sales team in checking and/or approval of enquiry/new part creation.
  11. Assist in solving customer-related problems (pain) relating to design where it prevents further technical business development.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline (essential).
  2. Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline (desirable).

Experience:

  1. Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment (essential).
  2. Working knowledge of design projects operating within multi-disciplinary teams (essential).
  3. Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment within the Energy Industry (desirable).
  4. Experience within a similar position (desirable).
  5. Experience within upstream oil and gas working on high-pressure valves and fittings (desirable).
  6. Experience in preparation of commercial/quotation packages (desirable).
  7. Commercial awareness and experience working in a sales environment (desirable).

Skills, Training, and Specialist Knowledge:

  1. Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills (essential).
  2. Time Management (essential).
  3. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize to various deadlines (essential).
  4. Understanding of engineering drawings/materials (essential).
  5. Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook) (essential).
  6. Have an understanding of common place industry materials and their application (desirable).
  7. Ability to derive product/cost information from MRP/ERP and document control systems (desirable).
