Location: West London

Position Overview

Are you a compassionate and well-organized professional with experience related to the criminal justice system? Do you have a track record of assisting young individuals who are either involved in or at risk of entering the Criminal Justice System?

If yes, consider joining St Giles as our Senior Embedded Mentor & Facilitator. In this role, you will leverage your personal experiences to offer essential one-on-one mentoring support to vulnerable and at-risk youth, while also conducting awareness workshops on critical topics such as Gangs, County Lines, and Weapon Awareness.

About St Giles Trust

Our core belief is that those who have successfully navigated issues such as criminal backgrounds, homelessness, addiction, and gang involvement possess the unique ability to inspire positive change in others.

Key Responsibilities

In this rewarding position, you will work with young people identified as being at risk of gang involvement, county lines, and exploitation. Your primary focus will be to build and maintain constructive relationships with students, providing emotional support, guidance, and mentorship while advocating for their overall well-being and success.

You will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, addressing individual needs and challenges by utilizing personal insights, local knowledge, and professional skills to offer tailored support and interventions. Additionally, you will assist students in setting and achieving their academic, personal, and career objectives.

Collaboration with other professionals will be essential to develop strategies that minimize risks to students, ensuring a trauma-informed approach that acknowledges and responds to their experiences. You will also support and co-deliver awareness sessions for the entire school community, including professional development and parent/carer workshops.

Promoting a respectful and inclusive school culture while providing guidance on resolving interpersonal conflicts will be integral to your role.

Qualifications and Skills

- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people
- Ability to effectively communicate in both large and small group settings, delivering key messages and achieving learning objectives
- Empathetic approach to understanding young people's needs
- Commitment to safeguarding practices and professional boundaries
- Level 3 qualification in a relevant field or willingness to pursue one
- Proficient IT skills along with excellent prioritization, interpersonal, and communication abilities
- Flexible, collaborative, and professional work ethic

As an organization committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our clients, successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced Child with Child Barred DBS Check.

We actively encourage individuals with personal experiences related to the criminal justice system or those who have faced similar challenges to apply for this position.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, generous leave entitlements, a staff pension scheme, flexible working arrangements, a mentoring program, access to counseling services, clinical therapy sessions, life insurance, duvet days, season ticket loans, employee perks, eye care vouchers, and much more.

Diversity and Inclusion

We are an employer that values equity and inclusion. We welcome applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds, particularly those from the global majority and those who identify as disabled, neurodiverse, or face social barriers.
