Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Development Technician to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, and innovation of bituminous and asphalt materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop asphalt products for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring high-quality materials and efficient production processes.
  • Conduct performance testing on materials and identify areas for improvement, collaborating with clients to meet their requirements.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their needs and preferences for asphalt materials, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.
  • Coordinate work schedules to maximize efficiency and productivity, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Prepare weekly reports on tasks and progress to Technical Management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Assist with general laboratory duties, maintaining a safe and tidy workspace, and ensuring the efficient running of the laboratory.
  • Maintain quality standards by following Company and accrediting bodies' quality procedures and protocols.
  • Record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
  • Calibrate testing equipment, ensuring precision and accuracy in material testing.
  • Prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform daily laboratory equipment checks, ensuring the integrity and reliability of testing equipment.
Requirements
  • Sound understanding of asphalt materials and asphalt production/installation techniques.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Physical ability to handle bulky materials and operate mechanical equipment, such as an asphalt road coring drill.
  • Full driving license and ability to operate a small commercial van.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with internal customers, external contributors, and auditors.
  • Tolerance for and ability to handle administrative tasks, including paperwork and data entry.
  • Planning, organizing, and problem-solving attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
