Job Title: Academic Training Programme Director

As a key member of the NHS England team, you will play a crucial role in coordinating training across the region. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that national standards, as determined by Royal Colleges, the GMC, and NHS England, are implemented locally.

To be successful in this role, you must be currently working within the East Midlands area at consultant level or equivalent in the specialty school area. You will need to have considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context, including training delivery in service and education.

You will work closely with the Head of School to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate training across the region to ensure national standards are implemented locally.
  2. Work with the Head of School to produce doctors who meet the highest standards of patient-centred care.
  3. Develop and implement training programs that meet the needs of learners and doctors in training.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the NHS is a great place to work, where staff can make a difference and achieve their potential.
  5. Optimise the use of digital technology, research, and innovation to support training and education.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

Requirements:
  1. Primary clinical healthcare qualification and currently working at consultant level or equivalent in the specialty school area.
  2. Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context, including training delivery in service and education.
  3. Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.

Desirable:

  1. Knowledge of the NHS and understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations, and regulatory bodies.
Skills and Abilities:
  1. Committed to own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress.

Working Arrangements:
