Training Programme Director for Histopathology Specialist

NHS England is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the training programme for histopathology in the North region.
As a Training Programme Director, you will be responsible for coordinating the training across the region, ensuring that national standards are implemented locally. You will work closely with the Head of School to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.
The successful candidate will have a strong academic interest in training and education across primary and secondary care, with considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context. They will also have experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.
The NHS England board has set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all. This purpose will inform the detailed design work, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to achieving this purpose by:
- Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
- Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
- Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values, and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care.
- Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation.
The successful candidate will be expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person. They will also be expected to have a strong commitment to their own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress.
Qualifications and Training
The successful candidate will have a primary clinical healthcare qualification and will be currently working at consultant level or equivalent in the specialty school area. They will also have attended courses aimed to support educational development.
Behaviours and Values
The successful candidate will have an academic interest in training and education across primary and secondary care, with a strong commitment to their own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress.
Experience and Knowledge
The successful candidate will have considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context, including training delivery in service and education. They will also have experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.
Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to their own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress. They will also have the skills and abilities to work collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values, and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care.
