Job Title: Assistant Highways Design Engineer

Matchtech is seeking a skilled Assistant Highways Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our highway design team, you will play a vital role in delivering a wide range of highway schemes from design to implementation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in designing highway improvement and traffic engineering schemes, from small-scale city centre cycling and pedestrian improvements to major new highway infrastructure and sustainable transport projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and engineering output, ensuring compliance with national and local criteria and sound engineering practice.
  • Collaborate with project managers and local teams to plan and implement highway and transport schemes within budget and to programme, adhering to quality, safety, and environmental objectives.
  • Ensure relevant standards are applied to deliver appropriate solutions offering best value.
Requirements:
  • Good knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges/Specification for Highway Works relating to highway and transport schemes.
  • Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD Civils 3D, KeySign, and Microdrainage.
  • Experience in delivering highways and transport design projects as part of a team of professional engineers.
  • Working knowledge of BIM/Digital Engineering software, systems, and data.
  • A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, or Foundation Degree/HNC/HND with sufficient post-qualification experience.
Individual Attributes:
  • Able to communicate professionally with clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A UK/EEC driving licence.
