Job Title: Design Highway Engineer

As a Design Highway Engineer at Matchtech, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of various highway schemes, from major road designs to junction improvements and local cycling infrastructure projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to work as part of an integrated design and operational team, where designers collaborate closely with construction teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop design packages, reports, and other deliverables to achieve project objectives;
  • Organize and conduct site visits and surveys to ensure accurate data collection;
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with internal quality standards and processes;
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety and Environmental legislation;
  • Resource planning and coordination of multidisciplinary teams, including subconsultants;
  • Staff management, including training, development, and performance reviews;
  • Collaborate with customers to understand project objectives and deliverables;
  • Manage and develop customer relationships.
Requirements:
  • Incorporated Engineer or highly experienced engineer working towards IEng / CEng;
  • Design and construction experience in the highways sector;
  • Commercial awareness in project delivery;
  • Awareness/experience of Local Highway Authority standards;
  • Evidence of developing assistant engineers, graduates, and technicians;
  • Working knowledge of programming tools such as ASTA;
  • Evidence of managing Health & Safety & Environment in design and construction;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software, including drainage, alignment, and traffic signs (desirable);
  • Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • UK/EEA driving license.
