An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Controls Manager position.

This role collaborates closely with BAT Management to facilitate the design and effective implementation of internal controls across various reporting and operational domains.

The responsibilities encompass both: 1) the design of internal controls for routine operations and project-related modifications (including changes to business processes, IT systems, and third-party service providers); and 2) assurance activities related to internal controls for financial reporting and broader operational areas.

Furthermore, this position offers expertise in internal controls, providing guidance and fostering an understanding of risk management and control within the BAT Group.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Assurance of Controls - SOx

Lead the planning, scoping, and risk assessment for the global SOx program. Oversee the execution of Management SOx testing across essential business processes and functions. Collaborate with management across BAT to address control issues, designing effective solutions to rectify deficiencies. Prepare concise reports detailing status, results, and key findings for management and governance forums. Maintain ongoing communication with external auditors regarding audit planning and evaluations.

Assurance of Controls – Other

Manage internal controls monitoring and assurance across various risk domains through self-assessment and reporting processes. Support the monitoring and resolution of reported control issues. Conduct incident reviews, including root cause analysis and evaluation of corrective actions. Align assurance activities with other assurance providers.

Controls Framework

Review and update the internal control framework by interpreting new regulations and best practices.

Advisory on Controls

Provide expertise in internal controls design to support changes in business processes or systems. Develop and deliver training on controls. Create templates and guidance for control procedures and documentation standards. Collaborate with management to ensure effective control implementation.

Business Partnership

Build and maintain strong relationships with management, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.

People Management

Responsible for managing a team of Business Controls Analysts and overseeing project assignments.

Qualifications and Experience:

Focus Area: Core Finance knowledge (Accountant with Internal/External Audit experience/SOx)

Required Experience

Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting under IFRS. In-depth knowledge of internal control requirements for global operations. Experience in core business functions such as finance or operations. Proven ability to assess the adequacy of controls in business processes. Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to senior management. Strong interpersonal skills to influence decision-makers regarding risks and controls. Experience in managing diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Comprehensive understanding of evolving regulations and industry standards. Proficiency in data analytics tools to identify potential control weaknesses. Experience in engaging with external auditors.
