About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Data and Testing team, driving the development of robust data testing strategies and ensuring seamless implementation across our departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish a clear vision and provide leadership for the Data and Testing team, fostering collaboration and partnership with service providers and departments.
  • Build strong relationships with Systems Integrators and Digital leadership teams across departments and government, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Review and execute the Data Strategy, including the creation of the Data Quality Platform Plan, TOM Strategy, and Data Migration Strategy.
  • Define and execute the programme's Testing Strategy, articulating how feasible processes will be delivered across the programme and implemented successfully into departments.
  • Establish clear ways of working to enable efficient collaboration, promoting a team culture that values diversity, excellence, and partnership with delivery partners and service providers.
  • Collaborate with Functional Design and Delivery & Project Management teams to develop and execute programme objectives, ensuring compliance, risk, and control are factored into design and delivery.
  • Advocate for the team, ensuring plans dovetail into the wider Integrated Programme Plan, and dependencies, risks, issues, and assumptions are identified, understood, and escalated where necessary.
  • Ensure data quality requirements are routinely satisfied and represented in key performance KPIs, influencing delivery across the wider team.
Requirements
  • Experience working in a data management and testing environment within complex and large-scale programmes with a digital technology focus.
  • Ability to distil complex information or multiple ideas/methodologies into one clear direction for the team.
  • Experience partnering with and managing external suppliers and consultants to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Proven experience in influencing, changing, and impacting critical decisions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead investigative work into problems and opportunities, creatively and critically questioning, evaluating, and communicating findings to a larger team.
  • Strong written communication skills, including drafting different written products to a high standard, presenting complex information in a concise, accessible way.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, negotiating skills, and the ability to influence technical specialists and business system users.
  • Detailed understanding of GDS Service Standards and Government Data Strategies/Standards.
Desirable
  • Experience providing strong collaborative leadership across the strategic layer of a department with a specific testing focus.
  • Evidence of working with other digital leaders to deliver strategic outcomes.
  • ERP, Shared Service, HR, or Finance Service experience desirable.
