Exciting Opportunity for a Lead Bioinformatics Scientist

The University of Oxford is seeking a highly skilled Lead Bioinformatics Scientist to join a pioneering research group focused on advancing cancer prevention strategies. This role is integral to a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at developing a vaccine for individuals with Lynch Syndrome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement informatics frameworks to efficiently manage extensive datasets.
  • Organize data storage solutions that comply with contemporary publishing standards.
  • Provide bioinformatics guidance and training to a diverse team of researchers across biological, computational, and clinical disciplines.
  • Curate and analyze raw 'omic and spatial biology data, applying both hypothesis-driven and exploratory analytical methods.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD/DPhil in Biostatistics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, Mathematical Biology, or a closely related field. Proven experience and success in biostatistics or bioinformatics are essential.

Additionally, candidates should have:

  • A strong research background with a record of publications.
  • Excellent data analysis capabilities, particularly with whole genome, whole exome, and RNA sequencing data.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages, such as R/BioConductor.
