Livewell Southwest is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Mental Health Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the mental well-being of infants and young children within our community.

As a Children's Mental Health Specialist, you will provide comprehensive assessments, interventions, and risk management strategies tailored to the unique needs of each child and their family. Your expertise will encompass a wide range of therapeutic principles, attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and infant development.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for infants and young children.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions to address a variety of mental health concerns.
  • Collaborate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the child's care.
  • Promote a safe and supportive environment for children and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client interactions and interventions.
Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Core qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or psychology with at least 3 years post-registration experience working with infants and young children.
  • Professional registration relevant to your professional qualification (NMC, HCPC).
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and engaging in multi-agency collaboration.
  • Proven ability to provide mental health assessments, interventions, and risk management strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Postgraduate training in working with infants, young children, and families within a mental health context, including systemic practice or play therapy.
  • Practice supervisor and assessor training to support student nurses.
  • Experience delivering training sessions.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with various health platforms.
