AWE is seeking talented individuals for the role of Warhead Mechanical Engineers.

This team is responsible for the design, coordination, integration, and verification of Nuclear Warheads and their associated systems, ensuring they meet both current and future client needs. We oversee the entire lifecycle of these systems, prioritizing safety, performance, and maintenance while collaborating with the Ministry of Defence and other strategic partners to deliver cohesive solutions.

We are interested in Engineers at various career stages who can apply their Mechanical expertise to demanding design, system integration, safety, security, or nuclear projects. Your Impact in This Role:

  • Leading the delivery of requirements, conceptual designs, detailed designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence throughout all lifecycle phases
  • Utilizing Systems Thinking to develop innovative solutions for complex technical challenges
  • Mentoring and inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists
  • Effectively communicating ideas through CAD, reports, and presentations
  • Contributing to national security by ensuring the credibility, effectiveness, and safety of our deterrent systems

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • Relevant qualification in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Ability to integrate complex system concepts and collaborate effectively within a team
  • Experience in creating concept designs and assessing key attributes using applicable 3D CAD/CAE software
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter/NX is advantageous, though training will be provided
  • Understanding of structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis is beneficial

Candidates must be prepared to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role and may be required to travel as needed.
