Job Overview

AWE is seeking talented Mechanical Engineers to join our Warhead Systems Engineering Team.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will possess the capability to understand complex systems and develop effective solutions. The Warhead Systems Engineering Team is responsible for the design, coordination, integration, and verification of Nuclear Warheads and their associated systems, ensuring they meet both current and future requirements.

Our team manages projects throughout their entire lifecycle, focusing on safety, performance, and maintenance, while collaborating with the Ministry of Defence and other strategic partners to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Role: Mechanical Engineer for Warhead Systems

Location: Reading area

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Available Positions:

  • Trident Program - Engage in a dynamic team responsible for managing and generating technical documentation, including warhead designs for processing equipment, supporting Continuous at Sea Deterrent operations.
  • Replacement Warhead Initiative - Participate in designing the future of our systems, focusing on generating and refining design options while addressing key requirements and risks.

Your Impact:

  • Lead the delivery of requirements, conceptual and detailed designs, manufacturing specifications, and validation evidence throughout all phases of the engineering lifecycle.
  • Utilize Systems Thinking to devise innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.

  • Effectively communicate ideas through CAD, reports, and presentations.

Key Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to integrate complex systems and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Experience in creating concept designs and utilizing 3D CAD/CAE software.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter/NX is advantageous, with training provided.
  • Understanding of structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis is beneficial.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role.
