The Warhead Systems Engineering Team is responsible for the design, coordination, integration, and verification of Nuclear Warheads and their associated systems to fulfill current and future client needs. We oversee the entire lifecycle of systems, ensuring safety, performance, and maintenance while collaborating with the Ministry of Defence and other strategic defense partners, all while supporting AWE in delivering cohesive solutions.

We are in search of Engineers at various career stages to apply their Mechanical expertise to demanding design, system integration, safety, security, or nuclear projects. This role is office-based due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Your Impact in This Role:

  • Contributing to the delivery of requirements, conceptual designs, detailed designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence throughout all lifecycle phases
  • Applying Systems Thinking to devise innovative solutions for complex technical challenges
  • Inspiring and mentoring future engineers and scientists
  • Effectively communicating ideas through CAD, reports, and presentations
  • Ensuring the credibility, effectiveness, and safety of our national deterrent

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • HNC/HND or degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in a similar field
  • Ability to integrate complex system concepts and work collaboratively in a team, taking technical leadership when necessary
  • Experience in creating concept designs and assessing key attributes using applicable 3D CAD/CAE software
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter/NX is desirable, though training will be provided
  • Understanding of structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis is advantageous

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be prepared to travel as required.
