About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scientific Materials Manager to join our team at Avantor. As a key member of our Lab and Product Services department, you will be responsible for managing scientific consumables and procurement processes for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage scientific materials and buyer service streams to ensure day-to-day operational effectiveness and delivery.
  • Point of contact for scientific consumable delivery, inventory management, and reporting.
  • Engage and communicate with customers' governance, procurement, and scientific functions to ensure positive outcomes regarding consumable management and cost centre spend.
  • Deliver a robust performance management strategy to your team of two Service Leaders and the full operational teams of 11 that they manage on-site.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or science-related field or equivalent experience working in a laboratory.
  • Multiple years of experience working as a Scientific Materials Manager in a fast-paced, pharmaceutical industry.
  • 3-5 years of line management responsibilities, including coaching and motivating large teams or service leaders.
  • Solid experience in procurement and stock management.
  • Liaising with senior stakeholders and regular communication with various functions of the business.
  • Very high-level reporting skills, including data and stock management, customer cost centre journaling, and PO management.
