Main Responsibilities

As a SEN Teaching Assistant at Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park, you will be responsible for providing support to students with special educational needs. Your duties will include:

  • Supervising and supporting students in 1:1, group, or whole class situations to ensure their safety and access to learning.
  • Assisting in the development of resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies to support students' learning needs.
  • Evaluating students' progress through agreed assessment activities.
  • Providing regular feedback to teachers on students' achievement, progress, and needs.
  • Leading small group sessions and interventions as required.

Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Educated to GCSE Level standard or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pupils with social and emotional difficulties that may impact their behavior.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software.
  • Some knowledge of social issues affecting students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
