Electronics Lead Engineer

Job Description
As a Lead Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electronic circuits and systems for HVDC converters and other applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects and the application of electronic hardware engineering principles. The role requires a good level of technical understanding and working experience of digital and analogue electronic design, including power supply circuits, control and protection circuits of power electronic devices such as IGBT and thyristor.
The successful candidate will have a high degree of knowledge and understanding of electronic components and principles, as well as experience in testing to validate electronic circuits using prior experience and on-the-job training. You will be expected to have technical skills and analytic thinking to perform fault analysis and design improvement, including performing bench-level and high-voltage testing. Additionally, you will be responsible for generating technical documentation, such as test reports and specifications for electronic circuits, and performing routine and type test specifications and pre-commissioning testing of converter valves.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test electronic circuits and systems for HVDC converters and other applications.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects and the application of electronic hardware engineering principles.
- Perform fault analysis and design improvement, including performing bench-level and high-voltage testing.
- Generate technical documentation, such as test reports and specifications for electronic circuits.
- Perform routine and type test specifications and pre-commissioning testing of converter valves.
- Electronics expertise at graduate level or equivalent experience, with a good level of technical understanding of digital and analogue electronic design for an industrial control system.
- High degree of knowledge and understanding of electronic components and principles.
- Ability to think innovatively and apply engineering knowledge.
- Enquiring mind and desire to learn new skills, ability to apply different engineering methods, and willingness to share knowledge.
- Educated to degree level in electronic engineering.
- Able to work to deadlines with high quality and accuracy.
- Dynamic and proactive with ability to work on own or as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to resolve technical issues.
- Knowledge of HVDC.
- Awareness of EHS compliance in design and engineering.
- Knowledge of digital electronic circuit design and development.
- Knowledge of analogue electronic circuit design and development.
- Knowledge of schematic capture supervision.
- Knowledge of PCB layout supervision including rules & constraints.
- Knowledge of electronic component selection, analysis, and qualification testing.
- Awareness of Controllership and ROHS/REACH compliance.
- Knowledge of FPGA component selection.
- Experience of product verification (bench testing) and validation (integration testing) testing.
- Experience of electronic design for EMC.
- Experience of design for manufacture (DFM), test (DFT), industrialisation & design to cost.
- Some knowledge and experience of firmware code development.
- Some knowledge and experience of model-based product development tools (MATLAB, Mathcad, LTspice).
- Able to work to deadlines with high quality.
- Good technical communication.
- Independent and team worker (Pro-Active).
