Our client, Pertemps Liverpool, is seeking a skilled Accountant with outstanding interpersonal abilities to take on the role of Business Partnership Associate on a temporary basis. While formal qualifications are not mandatory, candidates should be actively pursuing relevant certifications and possess substantial experience in a similar capacity. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting regular meetings with senior personnel across various departments to oversee their financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in routine meetings with budget managers and stakeholders to evaluate forecast outcomes against established budgets and targets, identifying potential issues and providing explanations for any discrepancies.
- Oversee actual income and expenditure, offering guidance to senior staff to adjust planned spending in response to evolving circumstances.
- Deliver timely, precise, and relevant management information to budget holders and project managers, ensuring effective budget and project management.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and budget managers to facilitate effective budget management and accountability, providing training and support as needed.
- Prepare and record accruals and prepayments for month-end financial reporting.
- Create Power BI reports to enhance the information provided to budget holders.
- Assist staff in estimating costs for potential new research and enterprise initiatives in collaboration with the Finance Business Operations team.
- Ensure project costings for externally funded projects comply with sponsor requirements and that proposed budgets are accurately calculated and presented for approval.
- Coordinate with Research and Enterprise Project Managers to ensure project budgets are phased correctly and income is categorized appropriately to meet the strategic goals of the organization.
- Work with the Finance Business Operations team to ensure accurate information is available to meet the needs of external funders and regulatory bodies.
- Build and maintain business partnering networks across departments to enhance financial management standards and decision-making processes.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in financial stewardship and control, enhancing the skills of budget holders and fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all costs and income are accurately recorded in the financial system, addressing any discrepancies and their root causes.
- Complete year-end procedures and schedules in accordance with established timelines and assist in preparing the organization's statutory accounts.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accountancy.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Possession of a valid ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or ICAS qualification (or actively pursuing one).
- Previous experience in a comparable role.
- Ability to manage your own workload effectively.
