The position of Senior Legal Counsel presents a remarkable opportunity to be part of a company with a longstanding reputation in the energy sector, boasting over five decades of offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver pragmatic, commercially-oriented legal guidance to the UK, Canadian, and Caspian oil and gas sectors, exercising a high level of autonomy within a supportive framework.
  • Engage with tender managers to formulate effective contractual and negotiation strategies tailored to each project.
  • Evaluate and qualify contract terms from potential clients' invitations to tender, collaborating closely with the relevant tender manager and participating in client negotiations.
  • Provide recommendations to senior management regarding contract terms and seek necessary approvals.
  • As a senior member of the Legal Team, play a vital role in shaping and executing the team's strategic objectives.
  • Advise the contracts department, supply chain, and project teams on contractual language and risk management, ensuring clarity in contractual interpretation.
  • Draft and review various legal agreements, including confidentiality agreements, mutual indemnity agreements, parent company guarantees, memoranda of understanding, pre-bid agreements, and cooperation agreements.
  • Offer compliance guidance, actively participating in client and supplier due diligence processes.
  • Support internal service teams by providing training and resources to enhance departmental knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified Commercial lawyer (preferably with UK qualifications).
  • Relevant in-house experience within the UK Energy sector.
  • Strong aptitude for assessing contractual risks from a practical and commercial perspective.
  • Extensive experience in reviewing, negotiating, and advising on contracts specific to the offshore industry, particularly in EPCI negotiations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
  • Exhibits professionalism and integrity, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills, adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
