Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a SENCO, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and ensuring they have access to high-quality education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the provision for students with SEN, developing and implementing effective strategies to support their diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to each student's unique requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN, providing regular feedback and support to ensure they reach their full potential.
  • Provide training and support to staff on SEN best practices, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of SEN legislation and policies.
  • Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth for all students.

Requirements:

  • Preferred but not essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognized SENCO qualification.
  • Proven experience in a SENCO role or similar position, with a strong track record of supporting students with SEN.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN legislation and best practices, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity, with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students with SEN.
