Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our dynamic team at Teaching Personnel. As a SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and ensuring they have access to high-quality education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the provision for students with SEN, developing and implementing effective strategies to support their diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to each student's unique requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN, providing regular feedback and support to ensure they reach their full potential.
  • Provide training and support to staff on SEN best practices, promoting a culture of inclusivity and understanding within the school community.
  • Ensure compliance with SEN legislation and school policies, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Requirements:
  • Preferred but not essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognized SENCO qualification.
  • Proven experience in a SENCO role or similar position, with a strong understanding of SEN legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity, with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students with SEN.
