Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Standards Manager to join our team at Lorien. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining our set of Estates Design Standards, including specialist systems and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain Design Standards: Develop and maintain the set of Estates Design Standards, including specialist systems and specifications, using a continuous improvement process and gathering data from various sources.
- Framework and Contract Management: Manage the appointment and management of consultants for specific appointments and tasks, monitoring progress, delivery, and performance of suppliers, and initiating corrective actions and improvements.
- Design Standards Development: Develop and disseminate information regarding the content and use of standards, and initiate the development of new standards as required.
- Project Assistance: Tailor design standards to meet specific project needs, inputting into initial stages of projects, assisting appointed Project Sponsors and Project Managers, and advising on design needs and coordination.
- Improvement and Review: Coordinate a programme of post-occupancy and post-completion reviews, reviewing other sources of potential improvements, and co-ordinating input regarding improvements from other estate staff.
- Specialist Knowledge: Develop a specialist knowledge of the estate for input into FOI's, investigations, and enquiries, and maintain expert knowledge of Scottish Government strategies and policies relating to the built environment, planning, and construction.
Requirements:
- Degree Qualification: Degree qualification in a building or engineering discipline, or HND in a construction-related discipline.
- Strategy and Framework Management: Inputting into development plans, option, and feasibility studies, research, and investigations to develop strategic and/or specific responses to Estates business needs.
- Design Standards and Project Assistance: Developing and maintaining the set of Estates Design Standards, and tailoring design standards to meet specific project needs.
- Improvement and Review: Coordinating a programme of post-occupancy and post-completion reviews, and reviewing other sources of potential improvements.
- Specialist Knowledge: Developing a specialist knowledge of the estate, and maintaining expert knowledge of Scottish Government strategies and policies.
