About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at a fantastic independent special school in Totnes. As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of tailored learning plans, working closely with teaching staff to help students make progress in both academic and personal development.

Your key responsibilities will include providing targeted support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping students remain engaged and motivated. You will assist in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring that each student's unique needs are met, and you will have the opportunity to lead sessions and contribute to the development of individual learning plans.

Requirements
  • A passion for supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or substantial experience as a Teaching Assistant with a willingness to achieve HLTA status
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C or above)
  • Experience working with SEN students is essential
  • Ability to work across different sites if required (all local)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
