Role Overview:

  • Assisting and stepping in for the Health and Safety Business Partner in executing and managing key priorities.
  • Offering comprehensive support and guidance to managers and staff to ensure the effective application of Safety Management Systems.
  • Ensuring all stakeholders are aware of and adhere to Manchester Airport's safety standards, including safe working practices and welfare provisions.
  • Gaining a thorough understanding of airport operations, including operational challenges, stakeholder dynamics, safety culture, and employee attitudes towards health and safety.
  • Contributing to the development and execution of Safety Improvement Plans (SIPs).
  • Facilitating the creation and dissemination of health and safety communications across various business sectors, including annual safety initiatives and related events.
  • Playing a key role in change management processes by advising managers and assisting with all aspects of implementing changes.
  • Advancing your career in health and safety within this dynamic operational environment.

Key Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to provide guidance on low-risk incidents while being prepared to escalate any identified risks or concerns to the Health and Safety Business Partners or Head of Health, Safety & Fire Safety. This position collaborates closely with H&S Business Partners and relies on the ability to influence various stakeholders, including managers and colleagues at all levels of the organization. Additionally, the role involves fostering a best practice environment across the organization, assisting in the investigation of safety-related incidents, and producing detailed reports with findings and recommendations. The position also entails overseeing the implementation of corrective actions.

Candidate Profile:

The successful applicant will have achieved at least a National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) and possess substantial health and safety experience (preferably 5 years), ideally in a fast-paced operational setting. A solid understanding of compliance-related health and safety expertise, auditing techniques, and practices is essential. Membership in the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health at a relevant level is preferred. Ideally, candidates will also be pursuing or have completed a National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
