Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Role Objective

The Street Lighting Team within the Richmond Upon Thames and Wandsworth Boroughs is responsible for the upkeep of street lighting infrastructure across both areas. Each street light is associated with various attributes that are documented in an asset register.

We are seeking a Technical Administrator to accurately capture and document the attributes of each street lighting asset, ensuring they are recorded in the street lighting asset register.

This data collection is vital for the effective daily maintenance, repair, and operation of the street lighting services.

While the position is primarily office-based, occasional site visits will be necessary for data gathering.

The successful candidate will also be tasked with processing invoices for payment, raising orders for the maintenance team, and effectively communicating with the public.

The ideal applicant will be organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to a dynamic work environment. You will provide support to a team of three Engineers and collaborate with an existing Administrative role.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a close-knit team of Engineers while delivering comprehensive administrative and financial support for the street lighting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the street lighting asset register and management system.
  • Document the installation of new street lights and related attachments, while generating reports and statistical data.
  • Support the ongoing efficient operation of street lighting services.
  • Assist with the administration and processing of invoices within the council's financial system.
  • Communicate with contractors, suppliers, and the public through written correspondence and phone calls.
  • Prepare post-meeting reports, ensuring timely distribution of documents.
  • Provide routine administrative support on a daily basis.
  • Conduct site visits to gather and record details of attachments on Council street lights.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient administrative, written, numerical, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Excel or Microsoft Access databases.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Confidence to work outdoors.
  • Understanding of procurement and invoicing processes.
  • Qualifications: GCSE A to C (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
