Position: HR Business Partner

Compensation:
£26 per hour. Part-time role with a maximum of 30 hours per week, spread over 4 days.

We are excited to announce a part-time, fixed-term opportunity to join our team at Select Engineering.

This is a pivotal moment to become part of our organization as we navigate through a phase of expansion and address the dynamic challenges within our operations. You will play a key role in assisting the HR department in modernizing our practices.

Role Overview:
As the HR Business Partner, you will collaborate with a close-knit HR team to assist operational leaders in managing approximately 350 employees primarily engaged in manual labor roles within our distribution sector.

Both hourly and salaried staff are represented by our Trade Union partners, with whom we maintain a strong collaborative relationship.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employee Relations and Operational Support:
    Guide and assist operational leaders through various HR-related processes, including the resolution of employee relations matters.
  • Data-Driven Insights:
    Utilize data analytics to proactively identify organizational needs and work with stakeholders to develop and implement continuous improvements that align with our strategic objectives, enhancing the overall employee experience.
  • Policy Guidance and Implementation:
    Provide advice and support to operational leaders, Trade Union representatives, and employees regarding the interpretation and application of company policies.
  • Formal Investigations:
    Offer HR support for formal inquiries, including disciplinary actions, workplace dignity issues, and grievance procedures, partnering with specialized teams to ensure consistent policy application in compliance with legal standards.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
    Ensure that our commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion are upheld, promoting these values for all employees in accordance with both local and corporate strategies.

Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with prior HR experience, particularly in a business partnership capacity within a manufacturing or distribution context.

Essential Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to coach business partners, providing examples of negotiation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Proficiency in HR administration, showcasing a variety of administrative skills and examples of relevant projects.
  • Experience in managing absence and disciplinary processes, which are crucial for effective business management.
