Experienced Senior Commercial Lead Needed


A leading contractor, Davis Mills, is in search of a proficient Senior Commercial Lead to manage the financial and commercial dimensions of prestigious residential projects.

These projects are valued between £20m and £60m and encompass various aspects including new builds, structural work, and interior fit-outs.

The role of the Senior Commercial Lead requires a professional with a wealth of experience in overseeing costs, contracts, commercial partnerships, and team management to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Commercial Lead

  • Cost Oversight: Supervise and regulate project expenditures, ensuring financial objectives are achieved. Generate comprehensive cost reports and forecasts.
  • Contract Oversight: Manage all activities related to contracts, including drafting, negotiating, and administering agreements with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Budget Management: Create and oversee project budgets, ensuring all financial elements are carefully planned and monitored.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and address commercial risks, ensuring effective risk management strategies are implemented.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Resolve any commercial challenges promptly and effectively.
  • Change Management: Efficiently manage project variations and change orders, ensuring all modifications are documented and financially accounted for.
  • Procurement Leadership: Direct procurement processes, ensuring that materials and services are sourced at competitive rates while upholding quality standards.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver precise and timely financial reports, including cash flow forecasts, cost analyses, and profitability assessments.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all commercial activities adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background: Degree in a construction-related discipline.
  • Professional Experience: Significant experience in commercial management within the construction sector, particularly on high-value projects, ideally in the luxury residential market.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with commercial management software.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical and numerical skills, capable of interpreting complex financial data.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to present financial information clearly.
  • Negotiation Expertise: Proven negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favorable terms and resolve disputes effectively.
  • Leadership Qualities: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience in managing commercial teams.
