About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Estimator to join our team at Ofgem ECO Reporting Working Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to support evidence-based decisions, promote regulatory compliance, and drive the transition to a Net Zero future.
  • Work closely with our talented teams to develop and implement policies that promote a sustainable and affordable energy supply for all.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the energy sector to build strong relationships and provide guidance to support efficient compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Develop and maintain a structured record management system to track project progress and enhance Ofgem's long-term organisational capacity.
  • Conduct thorough cost assessments, reviews, and verifications to protect network users and consumers from project overspend.
  • Lead the development of business cases, cost estimates, value-for-money assessments, and regulatory impact assessments for major infrastructure projects.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in the energy sector, with a strong understanding of regulatory environments and complex project delivery.
  • Advanced Excel and modelling skills, with the ability to develop and maintain complex financial models.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the energy sector.
  • Experience in delivering large projects and work outcomes to a high standard, with a strong track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide expert advice and guidance to support evidence-based decisions.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience working in a complex environment, providing expertise and advice on strategic or operational performance-related matters.
  • Knowledge of carbon capture use and storage (CCUS), new nuclear investment, and hydrogen transport.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies that promote a sustainable and affordable energy supply for all.
