Job Title: Mobile Plant Operative / Loading Shovel Driver

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mobile Plant Operative / Loading Shovel Driver to join our team at AWD online. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our loading shovels and other mobile plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate loading shovels and other mobile plant equipment to load vehicles and fixed plant with aggregate and other raw materials.
  • Manage and maintain aggregate stockpiles and ensure the site is kept clean and tidy.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of mobile plant equipment.
  • Assist in the operation of the aggregate screening plant and report any issues that may arise.
  • Work efficiently and productively with minimal supervision.
  • Assist in the monitoring and control of daily, weekly, and monthly stock control.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of health, safety, welfare, and security matters and take a proactive approach to ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Check and ensure the quality of stock products and report any non-conforming materials.
  • Conduct daily inspections of loading shovels and wash as required.
Requirements:
  • Competent with ITSSAR or equivalent qualifications in the operation of loading shovels.
  • Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Mechanically minded with a good attitude to housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Demonstrable experience of taking responsibility at work and excellent reliability.
Desirable:
  • Experience within a manufacturing site, ideally in the waste, aggregates, or concrete environment.
  • Competent with other forms of mobile plant, such as FLT, MEWP, and Telehandlers.
  • Ability to offer ideas and thoughts for discussion to promote improvements in the process.
  • Formally trained in Health & Safety or Environmental.
