About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for young people in our care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide Emotional Support: Offer emotional and social support to young people, helping them develop meaningful relationships with peers and adults.
  • Encourage Independence: Support young people in making positive life choices and achieving levels of independence that help them reach their full potential.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of young people's daily and monthly progress, updating files and child protection records as necessary.
  • Care Planning: Collaborate with the care team to formulate, implement, and review care plans that meet the unique needs of each young person.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the care team, health advisor, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for young people.
  • Daily Living Needs: Assist young people with daily living needs, including meal preparation, domestic duties, and supervising contacts with family members.
Required Attributes
  • Positive Approach: Engage with young people in a positive and proactive manner, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • Self-Motivation: Demonstrate self-motivation and a positive nature, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
  • Sensitivity and Reflection: Show sensitivity and reflectiveness in your interactions with young people, recognizing the importance of emotional intelligence.
  • Listening and Empathy: Possess the ability to listen actively and empathize with young people, understanding their unique needs and experiences.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrate the ability to work individually and within a team, promoting a collaborative and supportive care environment.
  • Care Experience: Possess experience working in the care sector or residential care, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
  • Qualifications: Hold a relevant qualification or be committed to undertaking a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
