Job Summary

This is a senior Ophthalmic technician role at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. A Band 3 is responsible for a busy clinical area and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. We are looking for someone who has all ophthalmic technician skills and embodies the trust's values in their daily work.

Main Responsibilities
  • Test vision, intraocular pressure, and visual fields
  • Use equipment such as autorefractors and ophthalmic imaging devices: OCT, Pentacam scanning, etc.
  • Mentor new staff within the ophthalmic technician team
  • Contribute to a comprehensive high-quality ophthalmic service at GSTT and Minnie Kidd Centre

Guy's and St Thomas' is a major London hospital and tertiary referral center with a busy Ophthalmic department for both pediatrics and adults. We are one of the largest ophthalmology departments in the country.

Key Requirements
  • GCSE in Maths and English, NVQ level 2 or equivalent
  • Good team working and communication skills
  • Experience with Ophthalmology Clinics (desirable)
  • Ability to handle difficult situations (desirable)
  • Knowledge of outpatient clinics (desirable)
  • Good computer skills (desirable)
