Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our Medical Retina Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out investigatory procedures for patients with medical retinal eye disease, including Optical Coherence Tomography, Visual Fields Analyser, Auto refraction, Logmar and Snellen visual assessments.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Participate in the delivery of patient-centred care, maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude at all times.
  2. Contribute to the ward/clinic/department/organisation, working collaboratively with others as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
  3. Demonstrate competence in generic and specialist skills, as required, following the completion of the appropriate training and education.
  4. Function at a competency level in line with the requirements of the post, achieving and maintaining both mandatory and statutory training requirements associated with the role.
Requirements
  • Good standard of education (GCE/GCSE level education)
  • Foundation degree in ophthalmic science and technology or equivalent
  • Ophthalmic experience, with the ability to converse knowledgeably about the testing process to ensure patient cooperation and test accuracy
  • Good IT skills and experience of software packages
